Save money, make your own lunch
31/08/2010
A quick and easy method of saving money is to make your own lunch.
Buying lunch every day is a quick way to burn through cash with little benefit.
Where I live on a typical lunch you would spend around $15 for food and drink. This works out to be $3,900 per year just on lunch if you work 5 days a week for 52 weeks in a year.
Just by making sandwiches or other food you can heat up it can not only save you money but be more healthy.
This website shows one quick and easy option for home cooked lunches.

This example works out to be $1.18 per day = $306.80 per year also assuming you work 5 days a week for 52 weeks.
This gives a possible saving of $3,593 per year which is just an amazing amount to instantly have available for savings or investments.
Also another way to save money on your lunch meal is sometimes the drinks on offer at work can get boring.
I don’t drink coffee or tea so I am stuck with water all day at work. Rather than spending $3.80 on a bottle of coke every day, I buy a box or two of cans when they are on sale. Each day I take a can with me.
Just a couple little changes to your thinking in what you spend at work can save you big when added up over a year.
