Filter out offensive material!

I have seen a number of arguments from people who think censorship of the internet can be a good thing.
They make comments like “If it filters out the moronic an offensive things on the internet then I am all for it”

I can see where they are coming from in that there are a lot of things on the Internet that I don’t like. But I have a choice of not going to those websites. Just like everyone else has a choice to not go to websites that may offend them.

If people really think that offensive content should be removed from the Internet by use of filters, then who gets to decide what is offensive?

You could get a room of 100 people and every one of those people would find different things offensive.

A lot of people I have heard say it should be based on Christian values, but why? Why does being Christian instantly give you a sense of what is morally right? What about the larger majority of people in this country that are of other religions or non religious?
The other option is to just ban everything that may offend someone.
Women showing their faces is offensive to some religions so should this be banned so those group of people don’t get offended?

Australia is going soft. People need to stop getting offended so easy and just get over it.
If someone swears then deal with it. If someone chooses to be covered up because of their religion, deal with it.
Something that offends you doesn’t really affect you, until you let it offend you! People go oh no you can’t say that, its terrible and go on the attack. Where as if you ignore it and just deal with the fact everyone is different then you won’t get all worked up, you will forget about it quicker and the world would be a much friendlier place.
