Stop judging everyone based on your religious beliefs!

Let me start this by saying, I am not gay. I am in a relationship with a girl. But that doesn’t mean I can’t stand up for gay rights.
I REALLY hate it when someone comes along and says my 2,000 year old book says you should be put to death because of the way you choose to live your life.

What right do these people have to go around judging other people for how they choose to live their life. Now I know the bible, the Old Testament – Leviticus does say this, well kind of.

“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them”

This wording also depends on the translation but basically it seems like the bible is saying, if your gay then you should be killed. What a wonderful loving god we have here.

Recently some girl in a beauty contest said that she believes that the bible is the word of god so gays should be put to death. I wonder if she has stopped to think that she is potentially breaking one of the ten commandments by being in a beauty contest

“You shall not make for yourself an idol”

I say potentially because I have seen people interpret this different, but still would you risk your soul on interpretation. Better leave the competition while you still can!

Anyway lets pretend for a minute that this wording about homosexuality IS THE WORD OF GOD!! What else does the bible say about every day life.

Have you say ever worked on a Sunday, or seen people working at shops on a Sunday? Well you and all of them must be put to death!!

“The Lord said to Moses: You yourself are to speak to the Israelites: ‘You shall keep my sabbaths, for this is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, given in order that you may know that I, the Lord, sanctify you. You shall keep the sabbath, because it is holy for you; everyone who profanes it shall be put to death; whoever does any work on it shall be cut off from among the people. For six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the Lord; whoever does any work on the sabbath day shall be put to death.” – Exodus 31:12-15

Know anyone that has cheated on a partner? Bible says it, yep, death.

“If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife, both the man and the woman must be put to death.” – Leviticus 20:10

Said something bad about your parents when you were a kid? You thought being sent to your room was bad. Bible, yet again, death.

“All who curse their father or mother must be put to death. They are guilty of a capital offense.”
– Leviticus 20:9

Can’t find yourself a wife, its ok, the bible punishes you by making you marry the person you rape.

“If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.” – Deuteronomy 22:28-29

There are pages and pages in the bible about how rape victims have no rights at all.

“If within the city a man comes upon a maiden who is betrothed, and has relations with her, you shall bring them both out of the gate of the city and there stone them to death: the girl because she did not cry out for help though she was in the city, and the man because he violated his neighbors wife.” – Deuteronomy 22:23-24

What about shellfish, eaten any recently?

“These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat. And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you: They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination. Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.” – Leviticus 11:9-12

I could go on and on about all these passages. I have debated with people in the past some of these. They go oh, but that is in the Old Testament. Well so is the passage about homosexuality. You can’t just pick and choose from the bible, its either the word of god or its not.
The other thing is that I bring some of these passages up with Christians and a lot have never even heard of them before. Go pick up your own bible that you should have at home. Its all right there.

Do you still have the same faith in your book after seeing the atrocities contained within?

Do you still think that YOU have the right to say what someone else can and can’t do based on a 2,000 year old book when YOU yourself throw out passages to make your fit in?

Stop judging everyone based on your own beliefs and let everyone else live their life the way they wish. This goes for all people of faith, I think everyone has the right to believe in what ever religion they want. That also goes with people have the right to live their life the way they want without being judged.
